Magellan’s 926s well #1 produces condensate and gas from the Middle Frio formation. The project is a redevelopment of a previously abandoned field that produced over 11 billion cubic feet of gas and 73,000 barrels of condensate. Magellan reworked the field data, reviewed the production history, applied and evaluated 3D seismic imaging, and based upon this reservoir analysis concluded that the field was prematurely abandoned.

We recognized that a significant amount of reserves remain to be produced. In 2007 the field was redrilled and the well tested gas at a rate of 5 million cubic feet and 174 barrels of condensate per day. Next a new platform and production equipment was designed in Houston, built in Louisiana, and installed in 45 feet of water at the Mustang Island well site. A new pipeline was installed and connected to the onshore receiving terminal located just East of Corpus Christi, Texas, from which the field’s gas and condensate production is marketed.
